BTEC Higher Nationals are intended to keep doors open for future study should a student wish to progress further in their education after their level 5 study. They do this by allowing space for the development of higher education study skills, such as the ability to research. Clear alignment of level of demand with the Framework for Higher Education qualification descriptors at level 4 and 5 means that students wishing to progress to level 6 study should feel better prepared.
BTEC HND (BUSINESS) @ AL ZAEEM

Students’ will enroll for the Higher National Diploma and top-up to a Bachelor Degree. The HND in Business is a major workplace qualification course, delivered over 18 to 24 months, which includes a broad range of highly relevant business and management subject areas, making it ideal for those who have started, or are planning to move into, a career in private of public sector business.
The HND is also recognized as being equivalent to the first two years of a UK degree. HND graduates will therefore gain entry into the third and final year at any universities (UAE/USA/UK/CANADA/AUSTRALIA) and be able to work toward obtaining an Honorary Degree in only one further year of study.
The non-specialist ‘General Business’ pathway, which allows students to complete a Level 5 Higher National Diploma without committing to a particular professional specialism. This offers additional flexibility to providers and students. Holders of the Level 5 Higher National Diploma will have developed a sound understanding of the principles in their field of study and will have learned to apply those principles more widely.

BTEC Higher Nationals in Business are assessed using a combination of internally assessed centre-devised internal assignments (which are set and marked by centres) and internally assessed Pearson-set assignments (which are set by Pearson and marked by centres). Pearson - set assignments are mandatory and target particular industry-specific skills. The number and value of these units are dependent on qualification size: All other units in both qualifications are assessed by centre-devised internal assignments. To gain the HND each module must be successfully completed. Assessment is by a combination of coursework, assignments, and projects. All assessments are externally verified by Pearson.
The BTEC Higher National qualifications in Business are aimed at students wanting to continue their education through applied learning. Higher Nationals provide a wide-ranging study of the business sector and are designed for students who wish to pursue or advance their career in business. In addition to the knowledge, understanding and skills that underpin the study of the business sector, Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Business give students experience of the breadth and depth of the sector that will prepare them for further study or training.
Entry Requirements (Any one or combination of the below options)
- 'A' Levels, 12th grade equivalents (GED / CBSE / ICSE / WAEC / NECO /ISC/ HSC, Filipino Board
- A level standard or overseas equivalent (16 years and above )
- Mature students (21+) with relevant experience
- Other UK level 3 qualifications (e.g. Foundation Diploma, Access to HE Certificate, a BTEC Diploma/National, Advanced GNVQ or AVCE).

The Higher National Diploma allows students to specialize by committing to specific career paths and progression routes to degree-level study.
On successful completion of the Level 5 Higher National Diploma, students can develop their careers in the business sector through:

- Committing to Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Progressing to university.
The Level 5 Higher National Diploma is recognised by Higher Education providers as meeting admission requirements to many relevant business-related courses, for example:
- BSc (Hons) in Business and Management
- BA and BSc (Hons) in Business Studies
- BSc (Hons) in International Management.
Students should always check the entry requirements for degree programmes at specific Higher Education providers. After completing a BTEC Higher National Certificate or Diploma, students can also progress directly into employment.
